In the meantime I have a question about your SE plays. Do you think it matters if you have say 10+ domains with the same Hoster or would you try and spread them around a little bit. For example say you have a main site on the server and then 10 all pointing at it, the SE may well say a) this main site has a lot of relevant links coming in however they all seem to be coming from the same sort of area therefore we'll take that into account and knock it down a peg or 2. Or you have the main site along with say 10 sites who are hosted around the country, then the SE may well say that this is better because more 'potentially independent' sites are linking to it from different locations.

I don't think it matters too much on the hosts. Some people have hundreds or thousands of domains and it becomes unpractical to move them. Also...there are some big hosts and the engines don't want to punish them. I do not know if google checks IP addresses as lart of their algorythms....they might. It would be a good flag, but I have never heard of this theory to date as a method they use. I personally would prefer sticking with one hosts since good hosts are so hard to find. Most hosts have more than on IP so you could ask to be on different boxes and IP blocks at you current ISP...that would be much simpler.

Also, you seem to have a lot of domains around the place, how do you handle
the WHOIS info on these? Do you fake it or use something like
www.domainsbyproxy.com . I looked at this service but at $8 per domain it
seemed far too expensive to me, but they will do deals on 15+ domains or
more.

On WHOIS, I do not hide my info. Again, I do not think engines search whois. They might but I prefer to keep WHOIS accurate. Again, some large hosts hosts 5000 - 10,000 sites. The engines would make a lot of people mad, banning a giant host.

Non porn affiliates are still behind the curve. Most of use have tried them and it seems very hard to find one that you can make a lot of money with. It depends on the niche, but the margins and commission are usually thin. I say to give a couple of them a try and test, and see what your results are like.

true, but there are many other reasons I think before this. 1) google says "dont do this or we will ban your ass" so I was already doing things that they look for 2) I submitted a bunch of URLs and I am guessing that they might flag them coming in from my box I submitting on...I tend to think thy red flag or hand check some 3) a couple guys copied my pages exactly and submitted as well and so there were 3-4 pages identical to mine in google...looking like doors and higher chance again of getting caught. 4) some people rat people out when they see their pages high on google. I might of been ratted out by competitors. I tend to think these are perhaps the reasons.

the other reason I do not think its IP based is that i have 5-10 other non-spider trap sites...and they are in google, fully indexed. The same IP..and not banned.

Is there a limit to the number of users that can login in using the same login and password, that a server will allow? I know you have been playing with linux for a number of years so I figure you would know. The control panel is Cpanel where I host if that matters. I asked them and they said it is unlimited but I wanted to confirm with you before I intergrate a password link button in the toolbar to auto login. I would hate to have it intergrated to find out that there is a limit of say, 256 or some dumb shit. thanks for any light you could shed on this. Rob

The newest engine games seem to all focus on google since they completely dominate search. The plan is usually something liek this.

1. get many domains names
2. do tests of certain words to find what pages rank highest, and copy word placement and density
3. link these sites in some pattern that flies under the radar but increases link count and therefore increasesengine placement

and so it is a tricky trick because you might buy say 100 domains. Say you get them for $1000. You now have to make at least $1000 this year to be profitable. google is the dominant player now and so most focus on ways to do better with google. google heavily favors domains. Linking impoves rank yet also treads a fine line on breaking terms of service.
