It took me 25 minutes to read through it all. Quite a comprehensive story about AdultReviews.net

Well it isn’t finished yet so I’ll get on with it.

Jeppe promised you last week that I would write something about the current situation and the plans for the future.

The current situation it that all our visitors in total read around 50,000 reviews each day in average.
Average output for the last week according MRTG was “Average Out: 3667.4 kb/s”.
It may show you that we have some traffic, and that traffic must generate some sales.

But we would like that to be doubled, and to reach that goal we need help from you and other webmasters who also see why it is a good idea to let the surfer read reviews.

That’s why we in the future will try to convince more webmasters to give our program a chance – furthermore, and maybe even more important, it’s time to tweak the PPC listings more than they are now.
We also have other ideas, but we won’t share them with you just yet. Nobody want to share the gold with everybody else :-)

I don’t say that reviews are the perfect cure for all traffic, but it is for much of it.
Test it with your own traffic if you have any. It doesn’t cost much time to setup a test account.
Then let us take it from there.

What we are trying to concentrate on at the moment, is to keep a decent update rate for new reviews, just like any paysite out there with paying customers expecting to see new pictures, videos etc. as often as possible, we also need to add new content in the form of reviews and samples (and once in a while new features) for the site. That way we can keep our visitors coming back whenever they need to find a new paysite to join.
We recently had a poll on our site asking people if it was their first visit to our site. Unfortunately most of our visitors had never been to the site before, and we are determined to change that. It is simply stupid to buy tons and tons of traffic and not making the most out of it.

here is a simple spam trick I use. I am still hesitant to commit to heavy filtering just yet. I figure if I can do it by hand in less than 15 minutes each day, I'll keep doing it by hand. I have found that 90% of spam is html email. I find that 90% of my friends write me text based readable email. In my email client, I turn HTML: previews off. You can do this in outlook as well. html crap and popups slow down hand filtering. I now just zip through the subject lines and get done quickly. I keep eye on the subject and the sender, in case it is a friend who has a wierd html client.

There are of course other factors when it comes to having lots of returning visitors, factors such as having a user-friendly and easy-to-navigate homepage. That is also one of the areas we are going to improve with e.g. a search function and making it possible for each site to appear in different categories, e.g. a site could belong in personal, amateur and mature at the same time. As it is now you are only able to find it in one of the categories. It might also be an idea to list all the letters in the alphabet and when you click one of them, you get all the sites that start with that letter.
But we are very open to suggestions, so if you have an idea that you think would improve our navigation on http://adultreviews.net/ please let us know. You can find our contact info on the site or further down this spot.
And don’t be afraid to share your suggestion even if you think it might be too complicated to implement. We have developed the entire site ourselves and coded it from scratch, so there is a good chance we’ll get it to work somehow.
While speaking of coding, we have thought about going through all the code again and optimizing it a bit… When we get new ideas it’s sometimes mostly about getting them to work rather than writing the most beautiful code.

Financially we are pleased with the current situation and our growth right now. As mentioned in one of the earlier spots, we believe that you need to set a new goal when you reach your current one. So when we reached our original income goal a while ago, we put up a new one. I guess we never really imagined how much money there is in the adult online entertainment industry when we started out, so we have taken all our experience into consideration when setting our new goal.

We are of course happy that our idea has turned out to become a success and to all the new guys and girls out there just starting out, we like to wish you good luck achieving your goals!
If you’ve got a good product and put some effort into marketing it the right way, you will experience success as well. And I’d like to emphasize the marketing part… Because that is what it’s all about – you can have the best product in the world, but if nobody knows the product, then how can you expect anybody to buy it? On the other hand you can have a mediocre product selling much more than a first class product perhaps even offered at a lower price, just because the guys with the mediocre product know how it should be sold! That example is especially true in this business, as we know better than most :-)
So keep on working and believe in what you do!

read as it will also be considered as spam. It's not widely known but by
law legislatures are not required to read e-mails but they are required to
read regular snail mail. What Andrew needs to do is print his email and

Louis an interview with the head of NetFlix about the destructable dvd by
disney. He said that in trials people didn't like them because they would
sometimes start watching the dvd and stop for some reason and then later try
to watch the rest of the dvd and it was degraded to far to watch. The dvd's
might work well if you watch the whole thing right away but if you prefer to
watch part and then watch the rest later people were in for a big surprise.

There are many companies now offering email authentication services, the
first one was mailblocks.com. You provide them with your email server and
login and they relay incoming mail through their server, if you get an email
from an address that's not on your "ok" list then they send an
authentication request to the sender which contains a link to a webpage with
a picture authentication request. Once the person authorizes the email is
allowed to pass to you. So it basically blocks all email that's not sent by
a human. It works in blocking spam but also works in blocking all other auto
sent email like confirmation email, password requests, and so on.
As for protecting companies that maintain and use their opt-in
membership lists, if companies keep good logs and records then they would be
fine if they were challenged for spamming.
