This is the almost weekly SexSwap News-Tips-Trix and it goes to all members of SexSwap and SexSwap2 and AsianSwap and GaySexSwap and SexSwap2000 Banner Exchanges. It contains information on SexSwap, Porn, Tips'n'Trix, and software reviews for the adult webmaster. I perform all literary stunts without the use of nets, safety-cables, spell checkers, or grammar fixers, and this tends to leave the reader in a state of bewilderment...you will get used to it.

KICK-ASS HOSTED GALLERIES THAT WORK WITH ANY SPONSOR!!!
You guys love your sponsor hosted galleries, right? But you hate the fact that your favorite sponsor has such a small selection of galleries, and hardly ever seems to add new ones!

Well hate no more my friends... here's a totally new concept for TGP owners and TGP submitters to make some SERIOUS SERIOUS BUCKS!!

Our friends at http://www.hostedgallery.com have devised a system where their professionally-designed (and hosted of course) galleries will work with ANY sponsor! They have galleries from some of the hottest converting niches, and will be adding even more niches/galleries on a constant basis.

What's the catch you ask? No catch at all... it's a very simple concept. You send traffic to the hosted galleries they provide - 60% of the surfers will get YOUR sponsor codes displayed in the galleries. And the remaining 40% of the surfers will see their sponsor codes displayed. That's all there is to it. And as we said, these galleries work with ANY sponsor programs out there!

Check out http://www.hostedgallery.com for full details, and FAQ's

This is one hell of a win-win situation for both TGP owners, and webmasters that submit galleries to TGP's! Not only is your TGP going to get the high-quality gallery content that makes surfers come back, but now you'll be making the sales as well.

You're probably thinking that this new concept is cool as shit already, so how about these extra features to really blow your socks off: Real-Time Stats, and Return-Traffic!!

That's right, you can check how much traffic you've sent to the galleries, how many surfers clicked your sponsor links from within your galleries, and more. You can also check what website referred the traffic into your hosted galleries -- especially useful if you're a TGP submitter submitting your hosted galleries out!

This is one slick program, and the guts of the whole thing were programmed by none other than Craig the programmer. So you know this is one professional operation.

If you play the TGP game you can't pass this one up, check them out right now: http://www.hostedgallery.com

ALSO: If you're a heavy-hitter and really want to give this program a whirl, the guys at Hostedgallery.com will cut you special percentage deals better than the standard 60/40 split. This is reserved for serious webmasters that have serious traffic to offer.. so please visit their site and shoot them over a message, or email them at deals@hostedgallery.com if you want to talk turkey.

3 ACCUSED OF SWINDLING AT SEX SITES from Richard
If you want to see some news that will scare you..check out this story sent in from Richard. Let me paste a paragraph...and I quote "A federal indictment said Web sites that were run by the men and by five companies that were also charged asked visitors for their credit card numbers, ostensibly to obtain proof of their ages."

RE: URL POP MEDIA PLAYER 9 from Calvin
Calvin writes
Windows Media Player 9 that was released in January
has URL pops disabled by default. Plus it will warn
users that the clip they are trying to play is not
actually in the format that it claims to be and asks
whether they want to play it or not.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/security/9splayer.aspx

One good thing about this development is that users
who download pop-infested files won't even realize
it. They will be more likely to keep it on their drive
and in their file-sharing program for others (hopefully
with older versions of WMP!) to download. :)

Another thought for WMP URL popping... Be careful what
sort of materials you use for this purpose. Once you've
released it into the P2P world, you've got your name
and URL all over the stuff. It's kinda hard to take back
if you run into a copyright/licensing problems!!!

my official response: I don't have all my eggs in one basket. The paypal situation is a minor inconvenience; but they are entitled to run their business as they see fit. There is nothing stopping people from taking advantage of the loophole that they offered. btw- paypal is refunding anyone who paid the $1500 to continue accepting adult subscriptions

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

POSSIBLE WAY TO USE PAY PAL from Emma
Emma writes
as for the paypal loophole- all you have to do is set up an ebay store (shopping cart) and link directly to your products on it. it's a minor inconvenience, and now you have to play by ebay's listing rules and pay their fees, but they are minimal. it's plain as day in the email they sent
"PayPal will continue to process payments for eBay-hosted items that are in compliance with eBay's listing requirements and restrictions because eBay listings are easier to monitor than website-based transactions. Click here to read the full terms of the Acceptable Use Policy.

MORE PAYPAL from Kendra
Kendra writes
I called paypal and they verified that 60 days to cease to use paypal for any adult website (service or merchandise oriented). The woman at paypal told me that i could ONLY sell items in the Mature section of Ebay. However, when i listed my items. My auctions were closed down within 10 hours for violation of what ebay considers acceptable even for their mature section. So there seems to be some problems there. At internext there was a booth for epassporte.com, they sounded great. But a few weeks later when i called them about further information, they couldnt answer basic questions that left me feeling uncomfortable. Are any of your readers using them? What is their experience?

Andy writes
anyone have any comments for Kendra's questions? I also think that Ebay is tricky and you have to find out what they allow and do not allow since they are very strict from what other webmasters have told me.

BULK EMAIL from Andy k
Andy k writes
I'm looking to try out sending some bulk emails, but am a tad stumped as to where to start. Could you give me a little direction? There are a few programs I found on google but as this is a new area for me, its hard to recognize what are legit and what might be fluff.

Andy d writes
let me first warn you that I would personally recommend you do not bulk email. You can try it, but you will find it very difficult since you will get hate mail like you have never gotten before and death threats LOL. I have three quotes from webmasters when we talked about this before that I will also add to this. One thing most people don't realize about bulk is that it is a one time hit. You get traffic from it for a short amount of time. Therefore you have to do it every day....and it is very hard to do every day. You may lose you ISP. You may get your servers attacked. You may get sued. Now opt in email is different and sometimes soft sell in a newseltter format will not cause you such grief. I haven't use bulk email programs in years so I don't know what ones are good anymore. Here are some that I found on a quick search of tucows that have good reviews

101 Bulk Email Sender

Bulk Email EX 5.55

Ezine Mailer Pro
http://www.tucows.com/preview/292822.html

High Impact HTML bulk emailer
http://www.tucows.com/preview/194079.html

here is my favorite bulk mail story (BAD KARMA) that sums up my feelings as well ;) And then two more great comments on bulk from Craig the programmer and Dan. These first all appeared in sexswap 231

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

BULK EMAIL SPAM -> BAD KARMA from May
May writes
we used to email SPAM, and couldn't take the hate. We are both a couple of softies, and didn't want to fight so hard for our traffic. Our buddy hosts some of our sites, and he doesn't care if we spam, but we just got tired of the hate mail, and bad karma. There are a million ways to skin that goat called "traffic", but why ruin our good time in doing it? We are in this for fun, so we decided our spam software was a waste of positive energy. Now get this, I hate junk mail, it kills trees etc. We are such California recycling granola heads that junk mail really gets on my nerves. Why do people hate email spam more than piles of paper trash in their mail box every day? I tell you, anyone reporting email spam should put in the effort to end paper abuse instead. Trees matter more to me than deleting a few emails, so I think people that report email spam are confused, and should direct their energy somewhere more needed. Go plant a tree and stop bugging my host and ISP about an email you received.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

SHOULD I START TO SPAM? HELL NO! from Craig
Craig the Programmer writes
Well I'm no spam nazi. I get annoying letters on a regular basis and
typically I just setup filters to remove them. There's only been one time
I've ever complained to an ISP and that was because the spammer decided it'd
be fun to send the same message to me 40 or 50 times. However I am against
spam, 100%. I'm even more against spam that tries to pretend like I had
signed up for an opt-in list.

I won't kid you, I know a number of the larger porn organizations
spam...they're usually smart enough to keep their parent company out of the
light but there definately is a darker side to most porn companies. I agree
a lot with what you have to say on the matter Andy....spam is such an old
tactic nowadays the final results I don't think that they remotely make up
for the problems caused by it....that is of course unless you've got money
to burn initially. I know from experience some of the larger internet
pipelines will allow some mass spamming for a price....granted they "don't
know anything about it", the only time it becomes an issue is if another
major provider complains...which again requires a little bit more palm
greasing. However I don't think the money is made from sales to their
sites....I think most spammers make their money by selling their spam
services to smaller but profitting companies looking for a way to expand
their revenue....and with the help of some good lawyers you can do a pretty
good job of covering your companie's ass if ever you are exposed.

Anyways back to the topic at hand =) I tried my hand at one point at
spamming....it was a painful painful thing....and that was back in the time
before automated anti-spam programs, the RBL and the media twisting the word
so much that the word spam is so feared by ISPs they'll back into a corner
and wimper like a wounded puppy if they receive a single complaint. I
remember with my last dial-up host, I sent an email to a friend of mine
which accidentially got caught by his spam filter....I lost my email
privileges from the 1 complaint...he even called them to try to sort it out
but they didn't care. The bad four letter S word is just too scary of a
thing for ISPs.

Moral of this ramble: If you are looking at getting into the
business....don't spam! You'll be shutdown from your chance of financial
success before you know what hit you. =)

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

SURE I CAN SPAM - BUT HOW DO YOU COLLECT from Dan
Here is a very interesting email from Dan. The point is...even if you can spam anonymously, you can't ever collect anonymously. Dan set the record straight with trick info

Dan writes
1) If I wanted, I could spam 100% anonymously and have a real return address that could not be shut off and a real webpage that could not be shut off, I have access to that exact software.

2) Ok, now that is exciting, what do I spam? Adult? ok, you can't spam affiliates as the surfer has to end up on thier site somehow to pay. You can get your own merchant account, but then the anti-spammer would have your info. You could spam something that people would send you money in the mail, (tried it years ago and got alot of people hanging out by my mail drop). So what do you spam and how do anonymously collect the money?

3) Trust me when I tell you that I have access to software, return email addresses and web hosting that I could spam 3 million a day. But can you sell and how do you collect the money. You tell me.

STREAMING JAVA VIDEO WITH NO DL OR PLUGINS from Dan
Dan asks
Do you know some good software I can use (don't care if I have to buy it) that will take a .avi file and create a java movie from it. I want to add some java movies to my site but don't want the user to need a plug in like quicktime or media player or anything, want it to work on any browser. you know what I mean, the videos like the old days. Any ideas?

Andy writes
I really don't know how to do it. I remember that most sites I know doing it used to use their own propriety code. To stream video without a plug in is fairly rare. I believe there is one or two prepacked softwares that will do it but I have lost track of them. Legendary Lars does this as well with his StreamRay. He can set up a front end for any paysite and his code is top notch. You might consider this as an option since it works so well. This is streaming, java based. no plugins

RE: OVERSEAS WEBMASTERS from Dave
Dave writes
I believe that MayLing was asking about whether CCBill will deal with overseas webmasters (no email address for her, so I'm assuming you can pass this on). I used to have an account with them for 3 years and they can pay overseas. They're pretty prompt, but will charge $30 per wire transaction. If you're only getting small amounts of referalls then the fees might not make it worth the effort. Whilst CCbill were great for a while, we had some disagreements over the Visa changes last year (to do with our overseas status) so I am no longer with them.

BOX BUILD from Jim
Jim writes
Build any gaming systems lately? It's that time of the year again for me - upgrade time! I always had fun sharing hardware finds and building rack servers with you in the past years - and they always make for a fun read in the swap newsletter. I was going to go with the ASUS P4S8X but have read about many problems using it with the Radeon 9700. I am considering either the Gigabyte GA-8INXP, or the GA-SINXP1394 but lack of information makes me wonder.I have learned that SiS chipset was the first to the market with AGP 8X and Intel came later probably after more research and better support for it. That makes me want an Intel chipset but I still need more choices before I'll feel good about the idea. What a day! Finding and researching all the parts for my new hot rod system has proven to be quite a job.

I decided to go with the Gigabyte SINXP1394 rather than the 8INXP because it supports the latest DDR 400 memory. This means that I scrapped my idea of using the PC2100 memory I had on hand! I'm going with two 512MB DDR400/PC3200. The SINXP1394 has dual channel DDR architecture so... "if you had two DDR400 modules installed in a conventional single channel motherboard, the available peak bandwidth would never exceed 3.2GB/s.However, with a dual channel motherboard that peak bandwidth is now doubled to 6.4GB/s". I also decided to beef up my original processor specs and go with a P4 2.53GHZ w/ 512 level 2 cache.

So now that I'm obviously going the distance on the system I am also scrapping the existing 80GB ATA133 drive and going with two Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 Serial ATA150 drives to take full advantage of the new cutting edge SATA150 technology. Here is some good information on why I made that decision: http://tinyurl.com/82kz

SPAM from Kay
Kay asks
do you know of any good spam elimination methods/programs? I seem
to get 30 copies (for 30 girls) of ALL junk mail -- probably over 2,000
a day and I'm finding that most of my free time is wasted sorting
through good and bad emails. I have read some of the spam programs but
they require you to have 'known' people who send you email, which
obviously doesn't apply to us since we have new customers email us all
the time. I've used the filter feature to eliminte key word emails (in
Netscape) but this seems to only help marginally because those spammers
are so darn cleaver and know to avoid those words! I'm open to any ideas
from you or Sex Swap readers!

Andy writes
there are a few programs that people use. Let me see if I can think of them. One is server based and one is client based

SPAM ASSASSIN
http://spamassassin.org/
that is server based and seems to wok fairly well

MAIL WASHER
http://www.mailwasher.net
this is client based and I have heard only good things about it.

if anyone has any momre solutions, please email me andy@lips.com and I will add your spam solutions to next weeks letter.

AVS AND BLOGS from Niggle
Niggle writes
Thought this might be a useful tidbit for anyone who makes AVS sites -

Instead of only using traditional Sponsor banners on my AVS sites I include
one of my own Lara's Playground banners in the site - this works as a great
filter into my main my Sex Blog site where I can upsell any number of
Sponsors without the AVS rules (because they're now in my main site).

The instant traffic from the AVS "New Site" list means I get heaps of new
visitors in the first week or two - many of whom tend to stay around because
my main site is a free one.

It's a great way of getting fresh new traffic from Credit Card qualified
customers and should work for anyone who runs a free content site or page
that they want to use as a traffic filter.
