CONFESSIONS OF A TGP NOOB Now, one thing Craig knows is that the big $$$$ TGPs do not want automated submissions, and so he has a special section for the super big honking daddios. These 10 TGPs you MUST submit by hand, but his code still makes it 12X easier. Now submitted to about 400 sites this one fine day. I think I had a 50% success rate in being accepted as tracked by the wizards internal tracking. TGP hits generally come in a wave...the first two days are the big wave, and then the wave tapers off for maybe 3-4 more days. Now remember I am a tgp noob and clueless, so I paste 9, yes 9, two mb movies on a page with a couple of banners and submit them. Most people submit 9 pics...and foolish guru-O-gif submits 9 movies. Well everything went just fine and my T1 handled the traffic from the smaller TGPs like a champ. I thought nothing of it...it was an experiment and I was done. About 7 days later, my line
started to get a little swamped. I was spiking my router graphs into
new record territories. Craig had an old copy of MKstats lying around
and he hooked it up and kicked out some charts so we could find out
what was occuring. It seemed that one of the monsters of TGP had listed
my site! Woo hooo! "The Original Movie Post" had listed my
gallery I was able to weather the storm and the the T1 held up well. The experiment did not work as planned but I learnt 100 things. One thing that is very true in TGPs as it is elsewhere in life "20% of the players control 80% of the traffc". Everything was fine for a week until I got an email from the legendary TGP master "TheHUN". This email said "we have approved your gallery". Now I think most TGP players pee their pants when they get this letter. Since I an Joe Shmo the TGP noob, I did not think too much of it. 3 days later I awoke and could not access any of my websites. I put out the emergency ICQ to Craig "Help! I thin I damaged my apache config file...maybe DNS is down...I don't have any websites!". Poor Craig gets these panic ICQs from me about 15X a day and takes them all in stride =) We did some investigation work and quickly learned what had happened The HUN had listed me. My nine 2mb files were being
downloaded at an alarming rate! =) If you ever wondered what a FULL
PULL T1 saturation is...here is what it looks like on MRTG after a couple days, I had had enough....I emailed the HUN and asked if he would be so kind as to remove my link. TO SUM IT UP - becareful with your testing www.moviepost.com some folks rumor that the HUN gets 3,000,000 page views a day. That dude has been in the business since day 1. - for excellent automated

I heard from Craig the Programmer on TGPwizards for the onwer's of TGPs.
Craig is a master of spider writing. Several of the projects he has
done are heavily spider intensive. Wel Craig is half way through creating
some serious TGP owner tools. Do you own a TGP and are you tired of
hand checking your galleries as they are submtted? Do you wish you had
some scripts to catch the crooks? Well Craig has a set of TGP pro-level
spiders in development. You will be able to enter your gallery urls
and the spiders will go to work. They will check to insure the pages
submitted meet your parameters and requirements AND then the spiders
will go back on a regular schedule to insure that those arcihived pages
have not been altered in any monkety business kind of way. This is a
HUGE time saver for any TGP owner. Craig and I do so many projects together
that I enjoy plugging his latest site innovations UPDATE Check this out - power of
theHUN page one, day two. AND this is a swamped server on a T1 also cool how freaking robust that little PIII slackware box was. It did fail eventually, but it put up a mean fight :) Almost 80,000 hits to the tgp page listed at hun's in 24 hours. And again, I am wet behind the ears...that page alone was 500k in thumbnails! POOO! and this site works fairly
well and converts over 80% of the urls I give it. This week I stumbled
onto an even better site. TINYURL is the KING or all url shrinking sites.
I love this site and I have only used it for three days. I have a special
bookmark in my IE favorites...and if I am on ANY page I want to tinyurl,
I click that link and I am instantly given the new code. Check out this

My daily driver box is a win2k and Wes the ISP advised that it is always a good idea to have boxes laying around with other flavors of windows to test. One of my online experiments was yielding funny results and I had a hunch that it might be XP and this was a good reason to go forward. I wanted to build a mid priced unit that was tough enough to be a server, yet not blow the bank. I also wanted to come in on the cheep side and then be able to upgrade CPU and case later. I debated whethere or not to go old school PIII or FCPGA slot intel, and decided it was only a little more to go with a P4 and be more up to date. there is one document you want to save and even read, this is the one.
Save it. It will come in handy many times ASUS motherboard white box. Why am I not scared of the
white box? Look inside? Its the damn real box inverted! This is one of those mini
footprint mobo's and it is tiny. It does not look like it hear, but
it hardly takes up any space I am old, I am lazy, and I am crusty. What does this mean? never seen....the battery was verticle the nwe mini beast case beside
its older cousins We crack the case open and
it is clean You get a handful of power
plugs Here is where many a mistake
is made on first builds. These little doo daddies can be mixed up on
pins here is the powersupply in
the top left...these generally come with most cases. The P4 needs a
P4 case or a special like $8 adapter cable. Where do I get my floppy,
and HD and CD cables? The motherboard comes with these. I dont use the
extra USB and CD speaker cable. Out of this pile, I just use the two
middle cables throw extra cables in your
new cale junk drawer This blue end will connect
to the blue end on the mobo the mobo may have a new back
face plate. Snap out the old and in with the new I like to start work with
the thing lying down see those little case nipples...that
is another thing I liked on this case. the mobo screws into that. since this was an extra small
board, I had to add some extra feet screws to bolt onto on the low end once you are done plaing
robot boy, place the CPU in here I use good old fashioned
silicone, not that arctic stuff that costs more. Why? Because I tested
it in an old sexswap news and found no diffference AND I lather it on...yep,
I know this is against common belief that it is bad to do that...in
my testing...no difference. Here I choose the black art of the finger
painting silcone now I won't kid you, this
is a scary part since you feel you are going to break the motherboard.
Yes, some people have slipped on the screw driver and eaten a mobo putting
on a heat sink and so Intel makes this a push on unit ok, do you remember my warning
on the doo dad plugs above. Here is the secret...turn to page 2-28 see this...this is the key.
Now the big secret is the lower right....notice the Reset Switch and
the power switch are beside each other but WARNING they are one pin
apart. It is common to mis this on a first build I tried to get a picture
of this with no luck dont be scared to flip a
plug over if the HD light does not work etc. Why are these slots all
blank? because I am an old and crusty hermit I told you, and dont want
to fuss with plugging cards in...they are all on this model motherboard
=) clean...no hastle this pops out for easy install
of HD. I put in two since I was not sure which one was working I had to read the box instructions
to get the front off if you are terrified of getting
cancer of the ear from a cel phone, dont snap these off unless you have
to. If you are like the guru and suck back more saccarine that laboratory
test mice, snap these off with abandon. I hate these things and I remove
them all rather than just the ones I need to. CD getting ready to go I LOVE THESE - SUPER SLIDER
SNOSKATES cd now slides right in -
no screws - came with case you might want to add these
into the back...helps keep dust out but never works for me

it. I am able now to DE-XP it and make it look like win2k and I prefer
than to the round blue skin baby steps stuff they do for Johnny Q Public.
You can turn off the new view and go to classic under the START and
you can turn off the click animations. And you can toggle a few other
