Johnny, Yolanda and all the SexSwap readers. :) It's a quiet Halloween
week and I just finished entertaining my folks who were down visiting
from the great white north. They love shopping at the big Mills mall
in Ontario. Old time readers might recall that on one of the IA2000
junkets, I adventured out and took the helicopter tour from the strip
to the grand canyon and highly recommended it. This time I have a similar
fun adventure to recommend. This time it is in southern california.
Thursday it was cold and rainy and we had nothing to do so we decided
to head for warm weather and hit Palm Spring. We ended up taking the
Palm Springs Aerial Tram. This was simply freaking amazing. It is the
second tallest tram in the world. The two cars are close to $500,000
each. You rocket up the hill and the glass cars spin slowly. Temperatures
continute to drop and the top is 30 F cooler then the base. You travel
up over 5 distinct ecosysystems. If you live in So Cal, or are visiting,
I HIGHLY recommend a trip out to the Palm Springs Tram =) SexSwap servers are all running on all UNIX boxes at this point. Originally Gus has written the code for NT and we were up to something like 23 boxes. For the last two years, Gus has been working his magic and has ported the code completely to unix. During the last month the servers migrated over to Sun UNIX boxes. I am not sure on the count....I currently think 5 boxes but I imaginge we will be closer to 10 when all is said and done since some are a little overloaded and new boxes are be added as we speak.The system should be a touch faster when its complete and the box uptime should also be greatly improved. Gus explained to me before that NT always has trouble with the TCPIP stack under the heavy loads of teh exchange and unix is much stronger in this area. Its just about time for Christmas shopping. I am predicting a banner year for Christmas shopping. Today I am going to tip you off to the two gifts that I think are going to be BIG this season. Since I am getting a little rambly at this point, let me save that for the Guru section at the bottom of this newsletter. On with the hardware, sofware, hardcore and softcore! ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| SOME OPTIONS FOR A STRUGGLING
PAYSITE I was in this spot back in 1998 when I had my one and only paysite SIXCHICKS.COM. The site had 800 members and was making about $20,000 a month. The big problem was that I was spending $20,000 in advertising, bandwidth, and content. The site was working me to death and I was making $0.00 net profit. Fortunately I had a good business with my old pal Karl aka KingKarl of Gamma. Karl and I calculated at the time that my average customer stay was 2.5 months. We then decided a fair price was 1.25 x customers x monthly fee. This was right around $20,000. Karl bought the site and the deal made great sense for him since a) he had more banwdith than me b) he already had live feeds at $0 additional cost where they were costing me $6000 a month and c) he had moutains of content. He and I were both very pleased with the deal. My guess is he tripled to quadrupled his money on the deal...and I escaped a big head ache that was causing me chest pains =) Sometimes selling makes sense when the pieces of the puzzle work out like this. Customers are sellable. Content and hardware and site design is not worth 10 cents on the dollar if you ask me....but rebilled customers are. Another alterative besides selling might be to try and cut costs. Can you change feed providers or change content providers or something to cut costs 20%? Is your bandwidth reasonably priced?...please note that I am generally against changing bandwidth hosts so I would only do that as a last resort. Can you fire any staff you have and do more work yourself? Have you tried offering 'UP
SELL" items inside your paysite? Live one -on-one chats? Legendary
Lars sell this sort of service and it can be totally customized to each
paysite. This can be "found money" for an existing site looking
for additional revenue streams. Check it out Do you have a traffic stream? If you do... have you considered just packing it in and letting the site die? If you have existing traffic, you have two choices: a) aim it at your own paysite which is what you are doing now and b) aim it at some other affiliate program. You have to have a very good handle on what you are making to try this test and you have to be honest with yourself. You need to know your math and accouting. If you site is losing money or breaking even, they you are netting $0 on each signup. Well hell, you can aim those same hits at a top affiliate program, get paid $35-$40 a sign-up....lets say somehow your bandwidth costs are $25 (which would be shocking) and you are still netting $10 or $20 which is a heck of a lot better than $0. This is a hard reality for many people to swallow but it is often the truth. You are competing with large mega sites with 10-50 paysites in their unbrella and so they often times payout more than you can make on the same signup if you have an average site. But this solution only makes sense if you control some sort of free traffic stream that would continue if your site did not exist. And lastly you can always try to find more free traffic. Go back to basics. Get out the pickaxe and start looking for gold the old fashioned way. Spend 90% of your waking hours trying every old trick and every new trick to find traffic and aim it at your site. TO SUM IT UP - SOME POSSIBLE

TRAFFIC CONVERTER ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| TRIX 1: You can always buy paid listings...they're fairly cheap but guarantee traffic...probably wouldn't recommend this until you've found a good way of selling to the traffic you do get 2: Get some partnership accounts with the larger TGPs...not necessarily the ego ones....but maybe watch your refer logs and see who tends to send you traffic, then try to get a partner account with them...a partner account not only gets you higher listings usually, but typically you're listed instantly and in bold compared to normal links. 3: Watch your referrals and remove TGPs that send you little or no traffic for a month combined to all your galleries. Many TGPs watch the hits you send them as well in determining your placement. So if you can get rid of the freeloading TGPs and keep only traffic giving ones on all your pages, that will mean more traffic flowing through all your galleries. the Sims, it was a hugely popular game 2 years ago. Sims is short fo

etc. The new online version promises to be HUGE since it won BEST Massively
MultiPlayer at E3. In the onine version, you must also meet new friends and make some coin.
