News Tips Trix
This is the almost weekly
SexSwap News-Tips-Trix and it goes to all members of SexSwap and SexSwap2
and AsianSwap and GaySexSwap and SexSwap2000 Banner Exchanges. It contains
information on SexSwap, Porn, Tips'n'Trix, and software reviews for
the adult webmaster. I perform all literary stunts without the use of
nets, safety-cables, spell checkers, or grammar fixers, and this tends
to leave the reader in a state of bewilderment...you will get used to
it.

As Bananarama once sang "its
a cruel, cruel summer". Hot and dry and singups are quiet. The
good news is that back to school is right around now. Lots of TV excitement
coming up...Soprano's!!!! And Survivor4 ! Got a couple of survivor stories
to get you in the mood this week.
Not many news shattering
stories for you this week. I have a couple technical questions for the
server pros this week. How do you stop head attacks and stream theft.
More on this below. Craig the programmer is on the hunt for a few good
beta testers for his new pro level TGP submission code. You can find
more on this near the bottom.
here is some news I had not
heard of. I know Snoop Dog likes to hang around the porn webmaster crowd
in vegas from previous IA events. he has now done his first porn video...Girls
Gone Wild Doggie Style.

on a side note, snoop lives
5 miles from my house over in the city of claremont ca. My neighbor
used to live right beside him and said it was hell....not because of
Mr Snoop, but because of the endless stream of fans trying to get his
attention. Sort of like when Laverne and Shirley first appeared on Happy
Days and remember Laverne was a little drunk and outside, screaming
at the window outside the cunninghams "Hey Fonzzziieeee!"
"you see in this world
there are two kind of people my friend....those with loaded guns, and
those who dig"

HOW DO YOU PROTECT REAL SERVER
VIDEO STREAMS from Rod
Rod asks
We currently are using IPROT to protect our website, so we have decent
security from a http standpoint. However, protection for our streaming
video server (real server) sucks -and- I can't seem to find any solutions.
Basically, with real server provides no way to restrict access to referrals
from our server and since the streaming ports are not http (and don't
use .htaccess), IPROT doesn't protect us. So once some figures out the
access path to the streams, they are free to share them with the world.
This a major pain in the ass. Real Server also provides no way to limits
users to a single connection -- any pain in the ass. We had very similiar
problems with media player.
Andy writes
this is a out of my realm of knowledge but I am sure it is being done.
Can anyone share with all of us readers a method or two on how to pretect
streaming media from bandwidth theft? If you have comments or solutions,
please email andy@lips.com and I will add your info o next weeks letter.
Thanks.

HOW DO YOU STOP HEAD ATTACKS
from Ren
Ren asks
I've noticed some pretty intense "HEAD" attacks on my member
directory.
They send about 5 or 6 requests from a single IP, and then it changes
to a
different IP. They even spoof the agent in the request. I know there
are
scripts that can auto-write to the .htaccess file to block brute force
hackers from the same IP...but these HEAD attacks seem to go on for
hours!
Anyone successfully able
to block HEAD requests? I've tried this--
<LIMIT HEAD>
deny from all
</LIMIT>
When I add it to my root
directory .htaccss file, all requests are
"Forbidden"
I can block certain IP's
using the Limit GET. This is the part of the file that works fine when
blocking IP's
<LIMIT GET>
order allow,deny
allow from all
deny from 123.45.6.789
</LIMIT>
If you have any thoughts--or
if your readers have any suggestions, I'dappreciate it.
Andy writes
this is above my knowledge and so I will throw it out to the readers
and see what they have to say. This sounds like a newer advanced attack.
Here is a section I compiled on all the brute force articles we have
ever done...you might find a possible solution in there as well
trix.sexswap.com/brute_force.htm
If anyone can respond on
ways to battle these head attacks, please email me andy@lips.com and
I will add your comments to next weeks letter.

WHERE CAN I BUY TRAFFIC from
Dave
Dave asks
Do you know of any good sources to buy traffic? Email programs, etc?
Guru-O-Gif writes
I always believe traditional sources of traffic sales will be over priced
for the majority of buyers. I believe traffic can be bought, but you
have to be creative to find it. Here is an example I can think of off
the top of my head. I occasionally stuble onto softcore site of some
sexy lady just testing the waters with her husband. It is a site with
lot of pics and bio's and the lady usually says she would never do real
porn. So they are like hobby adult teaser pic sites. Some of these sites
have counters and some I have stumbled onto get massive hits. Hits that
are just going to the site to check out this girl's neat fun pics and
stories. Why not search out these sites and email the lady and say "Hey,
I would like to purchase a banner ad on your front page. Would you be
willing to sell me the top spot on the front page for XXX a month?.
Right not the girl is making nothing...I think money talks and I would
guess that 50% will say yes, as long as you offer a good chunk of change.
I think this is one creative way to buy advertising.
There are other non adult
sites that might do well with this too. I tend to think hobby sites
with a lot of young 18-35 year old males might be good spots to try
and buy banner ad slots on site that gets tons of traffic, but currently
have no revenue. They are untapped. One spot to find these sites is
counters that publish lists or counts of sites using them.

CELEB SITES RISKY? from David
David asks
Just wondering if it is okay to host and post to tgps, celebrity pics
that are public domain ? Do any TGP's ban it ? Is it illegal to host
?
Andy writes
Well David, I just dont think such a thing exists...someone is the owner
of all pictures. Just because people steal and trade them, does not
mean there is not an owners somewhere probably some TGPs ban it. I imagine
ones with celebrity sections do not. I personally believe no. It is
just a matter of time before lawyer start writing you nasty letters
and make you take their clients pictures down and then maybe one will
sue for coin and it is a big mess. My friends who used to have celeb
sites...are now almost all out of them...I think they are risky business.
hope this info is helpful You have to decide on you own...for me, I
consider them too risky. Someone owns that picture and someone will
eventually go after you legally for cash. If anyone has more comments
on this topic, please email andy@lips.com for next weeks letter.

WHERE ARE PEOPLE SELLING
DOMAINS THESE DAYS from Dwayne
Dwayne asks
What's a good way to sell a domain name? I have asiamoon.com and would
like to unload it as I don't have time any more. I was thinking of ebay
but I've never bought/sold anythin there. Any help would be appreciated.
Andy writes
I don't think there is an easy answer at this time. It is always tricky
to sell domains and sometimes harder than people think. The lads that
sell a lot of names, often have a lot of names...like 1000 so selling
a few is easy but it is because they have so many. Here are two others
that you might try besides ebay.

Does anyone know of where
the hot spots are to sell domains currently? All the old links from
previous years are dead. email me if you know any good places andy@lips.com

DISK WARRIOR SAVES THE DAY
ON MAC from David
David writes
I DID salvage my hardrive (after writing to you about my meltdown a
coupla weeks ago). How? (Well, the Apple tech was no help -- he'd suggested,
rather grimmly, a $1,500 retrieval service, oi!! ...) I went out and
bought Alsoft's DiskWarrior repair/utility disk -- mounted my fried
drive as a slave drive in my new G4 (yep, I just bought a new one as
the motherboard blew on the old tower as well). Whoa nelly! DiskWarrior
kicked ass! Within three minutes I had about 90% of my disc directories
back. If you ever use any Apple hardware, this is THE utility to get.

RE:MPEG POPPER REVISITED
from James
James writes
I have been doing the file sharer trick for about 2 years now. I encode
the file using windows media encoder, and simply rename the extension
.mpg and it works, at least it did. Yup it still does. As long as the
file .mpg extension is set to play in Windows Media Player, it will
open and play. Also I noticed people were discussing Kazaa not working
too well. I use the new winmx and any gnutella based sharer like bear
share, limewire etc. I try to name my files with a decriptive phrase
using as many keywords as possible like young teen slut gets anal while
sucking cock 01 - whatever .mpg Hope this helps someone out there :)

CRAIG THE PROGRAMMER NEEDS TGP SOFTWARE BETA TESTERS
Craig the programmer has been my php and mysql guru for as long as I
can remember. Craig and I have working on projects like Spew (the newsgroups
spammers), Jungle (The amazon tarantula), and then TAUNT (pro level
game search engine rankings). I'm always cracking the whip on poor Craig..."Code
faster! I need More code! Give me more code!" =) This week Craig
revealed that he has been secretly working in his diabolical lab at
times when I am not whipping him. He has developed a new HELLA slick
automated, online, TGP posting tool. The code is in its final stages
of beta. Craig is looking for a few eager lads and lasses to give his
code a test drive. What's the catch? The catch is that you are white
test mice. Here are more detales on the project
Craig-the-Programmer writes
I've been working on an automated online TGP submission wizard and it's
in the final stages for a test run. I would appreciate it if you could
mention it in the upcoming newsletter. I need webmasters willing to
be guinea pigs to see how things operate. If anyone is interested please
have them email me. It basically means free autosubmissions for them
in exchange for bug reports and perhaps the occasional feedback.
So there you have it. I asked
Craig if I can sign-up as one of the guinea pigs as well. I think it
will be fun and I am curious on how I will do. It should make for a
good sexswap story or two. I of course will be promoting the Nasty Lads
since they have great TGP content for their webmasters.
If you want to be involved
in the test, email Craig in his secret lair and he will set you up

one more update just in from
Craig
Craig adds
Initially I thought about having it be a client/server kind of
program...the user would need to download the submitter itself, place
it on
a server, then the program would conntect to my systems regularly for
updates....but not only did that seem like potential for too many problems
but also a lot of work and discouragement to webmasters....so it's all
web
based using my systems....basically what one would need to do is to
specify
which TGP sites to submit to, provide the appropriate information (can
use
default information or customize for each TGP), then my servers will
do the
submissions to the TGP sites automatically.
