This week people have written in with some great tips and tricks on pay per
click search engines, of course a few angles on blogs, how to sell a domain
name, and even a little more.

In the last two weeks, the market has really improved. Legendary Lars and I
say "9000 soon, and 10,000 by Christmas", barring no world warish events =)

FORM TO TEXT FILE?
I was just chatting with Andy K and he had a question I have never covered
before, and it is a good topic. Do you know those form on websites (we have one
at sexswap), that say "enter email here to be added to our newsletter". They
are like a FORM TO TEXT file I guess. Lots of sites have them. Are they all
custom programmed or are their pre-canned versions of such a script? I think I

enter all the keywords you want.

I use it and then I find I bid say 35 cents for number one but the number two
is only 8 cents so I lower my bid to 9 cents.

It's spendy but I got them down to under $300 for the program.

I'm using blogs on

latenightadventurers.com - band site - to let our fans know what we are
working on in the studio, when other producers are working on our tracks, as
stuff is released, what we are doing in our 'personal' lives, etc.

beataudio.com - audio stream - to let people know when new tracks are
added to the playlist and to announce guest DJs.

In both cases it makes giving another site (person) a recip link or plug VERY
easy and it works into the flow of the site. not to mention the whole search
engine thing (rich in keywords, extra pages, etc). The blog I'm using lets me
republish every page whenever I want. This way no page has an old create date
and as I change links or add this or that it 'trickles' over to the old pages.
I'm thinking that a blog format would be great for tgp webmasters who either
use their own galleries or work with specific gallery makers they trust.
wouldn't be so good for general tgp management for tgps that accept galleries
from random people (i.e. thieves, cheaters, crap hosts that change to pop-ups,
etc)

I am very lazy. I didn't want to mess with the install so I'm using a public
package at www.blogger.com/ They use a template for the site, keep
track of your postings, generate the pages on the fly, then ftp them to the
server hosting each blogged site.

I had decided to experiment blogs and kind of put off the install for 4 weeks
because my various sites are on different servers with different configs - some
have perl version whatever missing specific mods and others have a different
operating system and one doesnt have mysql, etc. I was having a problem
finding one that did what I wanted and would work in a variety of environments
with minimal hassle (let the techies do the techie things). I ended up going
this route becuase I knew it would be up and running in 10 minute (i.e. no
server software configuration). I'm only using it on 2 of my sites now but
plan to add it to several other music sites in the near future (a cd sales site
to announce new additions and specials, several mp3 sites to list new tracks, a
record label to announce new releases, an audio stream listing to post new
streams, to post my cd reviews for another site - the list goes on and on).

I've literally found a dozen things to use blogs for on my little niche of the
web. I manage too many sites as it is so a 10 minute savings on each update
really adds up fast. Plus I find myself updating more often because it takes
all of 3 minutes to put my thoughts on the sites. another advantage to using a
public blog system is that they list me several places on their site. it's
trickle traffic but it's traffic that I wouldn't get otherwise. and you
multiply that across enough sites and it becomes a bit more then a trickle.

this specific blog wont work for adult sites. and I'm hosed if they shut down.
I'm doing regular backups on the templates and the archives so I wont loose
them should it happen. the guy who turned me on to blogs in the first place
recommended 'movable type' from www.movabletype.org/ btw: if any of
sexswap webmasters need any style music for videos, their sites, want to push a
CD compilation co-branded with their website, or anything else they can think
of involving music - hit me up - we'll work something out - i know lots of

I have 50,000 keywords on there and most are for 1 or 2 cents per click. They
are right behind overture but way way cheaper !

It's impossible to get 50,000 keywords for anything but !

Say you do marketing you can have "marketing in every city, town county state"
etc. The SE will not ban you for using too many of the same keyword thousands of
times. But, "marketing" is the keyword they will pick up because they want to
clicks. Overture won't allow it but all the others do ! You can get 500-1000
keywords from "Marketing" i.e., internet marketing, best marketing, web site
marketing etc., etc. etc ! Add products and then all the states, cities, towns
etc. and you have 50,000 keywords. Load them into an excell spread sheet and
delete the dups.

Load them up to the PPC SE and Bam - Traffic ! BTW: I also have 7.5 Million web
pages on 300 different servers (all changed daily) for the free SE's as a back
up :)

In your #258 Newsletter you had an article on a domain name
dispute website. I am sure you visited the website, but perhaps
you missed one of the neatest resources linked to the website.

One of the resources linked to the website is a "Whois" that
appears just as a menu item at the top of the screen. Most
people would not click on the link because we have all seen a
"whois" link thousands of times. I happened to click on the menu
item simply because another article in your #258 issue was for
the QWho website. I was very pleasantly surprised to find an
excellent website dedicated to doing "Whois" lookups. The name
of the website is "Whois Report" (www.whoisreport.com).
Here is what you find at the "Whois Report" website:

The world's first Multi-TLD wildcard search tool! Search for
domains using multiple keywords. For example search for 'Bill
Gates' will yield all domains with the keyword 'Bill' and 'Gates'
contained in the domain name.

Now that is quite 'cool' and would be a potential boon for anyone
seeking to come up with clever domain names. What is even better
is that just below the above description is a link that enables
webmasters to add a "Whois Report" search at their own website.

I bet many of your readers would like to see this website and add
the search feature, especially your readers that offer either web
design, webhosting, or web resources at their websites.

MAC HD RECOVERY TOOLS from Stephen

having to do so. There are two good programs for fixing HD's and recovering

Always be sure to get the money BEFORE giving the domain. Once you've
signed and delivered the domain transfer pages it'll be very difficult to
get it back, even if you're not fully paid up. The best solution is to send
a nototized letter of intent to the buyer, a mini contract if you
will...something simple that basically expresses you will sell the domain
name to the buyer upon receipt of the agreed apon funds...if that's not good
enough for a buyer, don't sell to them...as simple as that. The letter of
intent and proof of their payment would be good enough to dispute the domain
ownership with the regisistrar if you were to take the funds from the buyer
and not give them the domain. Notorization is cheap and easy, any licensed
lawyer can do it for you and it takes all of two minutes to do.

Also, be sure to get a secured form of payment for the domain. Money
order/certified check or direct cash would be best. If you take a credit
card payment or even paypal you run the risk of the buyer trying to grab his
funds back after the money has been transferred...and then things start to
get messy.

My stats were showing shitloads of people hitting my main pages, and a lot
less hitting my join page. I figured once they saw the price and my sales
pitch in a different way they would signup. So I used a forced 30 second
redirect to my join page from my main paysite page. After 30 seconds if they
are still there and havn't clicked the button you can throw the join page in
front of them. I saw 10% increase in joins by using this technique.
