News Tips Trix
This is the almost weekly
SexSwap News-Tips-Trix and it goes to all members of SexSwap and SexSwap2
and AsianSwap and GaySexSwap and SexSwap2000 Banner Exchanges. It contains
information on SexSwap, Porn, Tips'n'Trix, and software reviews for
the adult webmaster. I perform all literary stunts without the use of
nets, safety-cables, spell checkers, or grammar fixers, and this tends
to leave the reader in a state of bewilderment...you will get used to
it.

I am cranking out the newsletter
a half day early this week. Here is the plan. Next week, the wife and
I leave on out yearly trek to the northern ontario canada for a visit
with the folks. While there, we suffer from great email withdrawal.
It is like a heroine cold turkey detox. Then when we get back to the
cave in cali, there are 6,128 emails to answer and we OD. One of the
busiest days for email for me is the day after I send the email since
many people send in terrific tips and comments on the news. To try and
soften the email blow, I am going to send this weeks news, and next
weeks, on Tuesday. This gives me two days next week to keep things in
order. Then the first newsletter for July will be wednesday or thursday,
when we get back. To reiterate, the news will be a day early for two
weeks and then a day late the third week. Clear as mud.
My software hardware section
has been a little thin lately. That seems to come in spurts. I might
try taking the heading off and just include hardware and software stories
and links in the trix section. I'm going to give it a try and see how
it flies. We will go from News into Trix. Lean and Mean =)
The Professor sent me an
interesting email about a week ago. Everyone who is a webmaster gets
far too much spam. We all get hundreds of spam letters a day and filters
just can't catch it all. The Professor had written himself a crafty
little program that actually caught ALL his spam. I basically wanted
to give you the line of thinking. I haven't tried it yet but may be
pushed to. Currently, most email filtering tries to catch the bad email.
This is really a losing battle. There is almost no way to filter all
email and catch all spam. What the professor did, was to approach it
from the other side of teh spectrum. Filter for only good email. He
set up filters of all his known friends, and only their letters get
through. All bounced email gets sent to a webpage or gets an email back
saying something like "I think you are spam, if you really need
to get in touch with me, click here and enter your message on this website
and click send". This is a drastic approach, but I believe this
is the wave of the future. To really block out spam, we cannot filter
for spam....instead, the more efficient approach is to filter for friendly
emails and let them through, and then build in a catch all fail safe
so if a new contact person really does want to get through, they can
by using a form on a webpage...where a spam email just would bounce.
Something to think about that certainly intrigued me.

I wanted to show his gifs since it is interesting how we both make about

It is a neat comparission.

BLOGS AND FEEDER SITES from
Niggle
Niggle writes
I write Blog mixed with sponsor upsell and I'm starting to get more
and more non-adult traffic (and incidental traffic).
One day I did an article
on Arabic sex terms. One of those words was "Anikak". Every
day now I get a couple of hits on the word Anikak. Wanted to see what
other sites they were hitting and it turns out that Anikak is actually
the name of a journalist - I was the only adult site listed out of a
total of 7 - they were searching for this guy but their curiosity made
them click to my site clearly marked "XXX Competitions".
The incidental traffic I
got yesterday came from a blog which said "I'm moving to Melbourne"
on the same page as a sponsor upsell for "Dildo Sex - Girls who
love strap-ons." Google decided I matched the search term "girls
in Melbourne who love strap-ons" and the person clicked through.
So slightly off topic, but
I think it's worth using non-adult material as a Search Engine trap
for people who might click for the sheer hell of it! But then again,
I'm on the Blog bandwagon ;-)
Andy writes
very cool and I see it when I find my own site on wierder and wierder
combo words on google. I think blogs are simply an excellent and new
way to get on the engines.
Niggle writes
I'm beginning to believe it more and more. Pull SE traffic as much as
you
can - everyone says it's high quality. I make sure I find out what pages
the
SE traffic is hitting and optomise them - backtrack to a surfers point
of
view - find out how they're finding you and then exploit it!
Plus now that each day's
blog is about 1000 words I've split it all up into
seperate pages of each day's upsell. Makes it easier for them to target
in
on their search term because it's within 1-2 scrolls. Great thing is
now I
have about 150 more entrance pages - my equivilent of traditional mirror
pages. Still making 50 cents an hour, but it's getting better ;-)

SPAM FILTERING from Phil
Phil writes
Here are a few products I have been watching for a while.
www.roaringpenguin.com/home.php3
Roaring Penguin Linux Based with Quarantine Ability Currently we are
testing this out, I like the demo on the site.
icewarp.com/Products/Merak_Email_Server_Software/
Merak Mail Server w/2150 Filter
www.2150.com/merakfilter/
Filter script for Merak based on all email parts, txt body, mail from
etc. Merak Mail Server with a 2150 filter offers the ability to drop
all filtered messages to a email account for review e.g filtered@domain.com
. With 2150 you can also specify a "white list" that will
enable the server to allow certain phrases through. This is crucial
if you run a hosting service and need SPAM emails to come through the
abuse@domain.com account. The one drawback is its NT based, but I will
say this its a damn good mail server with hundreds of accounts and just
a few domains, but a horrible mail server with hundreds of domains..
just can't handle the resource. Also the web mail is resource hungry.
Server Side Script Filters
-
www.vt.net.nz/scripts/perl/index.php?action=responder
Here is a interesting development that could very well be the
cure for many adult webmasters that host on Unix servers.. which
is most of us. How about a script that will auto poll your box
and do high end filter actions on your emails and throw any hits
into a account called "suspect@yourdomain.com" and let all
others
stay in the mailbox for your later retrieval by your Pop3 mail program.
Using MySQL and PHP, we might be able to do this with the right
programmer. I am working with one now and I will try to have something
finalized in the next few weeks. I hope to add the ability to have
"delayed tiered auto responders" which will take emails and
send
out responses over a period of specified time. It should have
duplicate email prevention built in to cut down on complaints.
The one listed above is good, but needs some tweaking to really
bring its strength out, but the basic filtering is there.
www.stalker.com/CGatePro.html
Communigate Pro, This server kicks ass! Its expensive but stable and
what I use at Reliablehosting.com. It does have spam filtering but at
the time of this writing they had not made it with a "white list".
It does have the ability for individual users to block other users based
on mail from, but not text. In the main control area for the server
it does have body text blocking ability, but once again no ability for
white list and also the filtered email is unreadable, not like Merak
where it is readable and forwardable.
www.8e6technologies.com/products/es2000/index.html
The 8e62000 Appliance, this thing is kind of cool. Unfortunately I have
not tested it and the company was freighted when I said we may put 200,000
messages a day through it.
While I have looked for hours
on the web for "white list" filter ability on servers, these
are the only few I have found that work well. I love my mail filter
I use, I can update it and add white list and review rejections. I have
total control over my mail. I think my customers will have to wait a
while before I can offer that level of filtering to them. The only way
I can do it now is if they get a Dedicated NT server from me. When the
filters get down to user levels with white list ability it will be a
great day for spam filtering.

MOST POPULAR NICHES? from
Dave
Dave askes
Are you aware of any webmaster sites that track what adult niches are
the most visited? Seems to me that amateur and teen sites out weigh
the type of sites available, and I'm wondering if that's because they're
the most popular.
Andy writes
I am not of this being publicly available but I am sure large affiliate
sites with many niches track this internally. I think it is safe to
say that the areas with the most traffic are the most popular. If you
could find a counter that should lists of all the sites counted, you
could use this to calculate. Websidestory used to do it. You might also
check TGPs and see what the top categories are. You might also do what
I did as an article a few months ago and search the words on goto. pussy
and tits were the most searched words and not teen so I go by the goto

I have just completed work on 1001doors.cgi. thought i send url for

do setup but it generates doorways with a fine layout. here comes a
brief description:
1001doors.cgi is a small cgi script which allows you to easily generate
many (as many as you like) doorway pages. all this doorway pages will
be stored in one directory. it will also create a index html file from
which all templates are linked. so you just have to submit this index
page to searchengines and all your doorways will be spidered. to have
each page looking unique for searchengines this script will use random
title and alt tags for every template. no template will have same title
or alt tags. ability to customize head code and title, also link and
background color for every generated html template. just upload your
pictures, 1001doors.cgi will do the job for you.

THUMBNAIL GALLERY ROTATION
SCRIPT? from David
David writes
Recently I've been considering adding an automated daily gallery to
my site (if only I knew how to do this). Specifically, I envisioned
having a number separate folders, each folder with maybe 10 pics and
thumbnails. While folders might be added or removed, it would generally
be a constant rotating pool. The total number of folders is yet to be
determined, possibly as few as twenty, and maybe several hundred, depending
on server space, etc. What I'm wondering is how to put this into practice.
Are there already tools out there that would do this for me, or would
this be something that would be fairly easy to script? Any other thoughts
on the subject? Thanks for your time.
Andy writes
I thought I wrote about gallery rotation scripts a while back. I don't
think this would be too hard. You might pay someone and post the job
on elance.com. I think I might be able to find you one or two free ones
from old newsletters...let me see...hmmm, no luck...lots of builders
but know rotators. anyone know if such a script exists? email andy@lips.com

each year, around this time, I like to give the readers a glimpse into
the city I grew up in. I guess you would call it a cross between Norther

a snapshot of today's news in the daily newspaper....top story....this
just in
SMOKERS NOT HAPPY WITH TAX
Smokers, critics not happy with Tory budget The tax hike on cigarettes
in the provincial governments new budget on Monday ignited the
interest of many Sudburians.
In California, lighting a
cigarette in a bar or restaurant, is grounds for the electric chair.
You would be lucky to leave a commercial buidling alive if you even
attempted to puff on a cig. In northern canada, they are still many
heavy smokers. The tax on smokes is fierce. I would hazard to bet that
the price of pot in california, is cheaper than the price of cigarettes
in ontario at this point...which is rather interesting.
