Morning kids. Time to walk the dogs. Is it me or has this been the coldest spring and summer on record...nothing but clouds. The weather sucks but I find the online forecast is bright and sunny. you get home and dial a toll free number. I tend to think they are swamped because I sat on hold 15-30 minutes. They then ask a bunch of questions and then give you a number, expiration date, and serurity code. I believe they send you a true plastic card in a week or so that you can charge up. I like this since I only have an AMEX and don't want a Visa or MC and I hate giving my bankcard for online stuff since you don't have a leg to stand on when you try and dispute a charge. I'll probably now try to use this at ParadisePoker since paypal will not allow my AMEX to fund online gambling and Paradise will not take AMEX. I am not sure how these cards will do. I was very interested in the Nasty Dollars story in the last newsletter you sent out. They said that they were sending most of their Sexswap traffic to nasty dollars, well I always thought that banner swaps required that traffic be sent to the same page that you had the banner on.

I believe I have confused some readers =) I generally find that if one person emails me with this sort of questions, that probably 100 or more folks have similar thoughts. Let me do two clarifications

Banner Exchange Rules
At SexSwap, you can accumulate credits on one page or 1000, and you can then use your credits to aim at any URL you wish. We do not force members to accumulate credits on the same page that their credits and clicks would go to. We have always allowed members the freedom to be creative. For example, you might have banners on 100 TGP posts and accumulate a toon of credits. The URL in your account does not have to be these pages. You might instead choose to send your sexswap earned credits and traffic to your paysite, or to the affiliate program you like best. Every once in a while people ask me about this so I will try and bring it up once a year or so.

Nasty Dollars Testimonial Last Week
I am sorry if this was confusing. I wrote that ad from me. I send almost all of my traffic (excluding asian) to Nasty Dollars. I was trying to say that if you have a traffic and hits that you send to other affiliate programs, you might give Nasty Dollars a try. Been there, done that got the t-shirt with the naked women...My boss owns several strip clubs and so has access to a lot of women who'll will pose naked. We had a good photographer, a techie (me), and a video guy. So I can answer these questions based on my experience.

1. START A PAYSITE OR EXCLUSIVELY LICENSE?
To make money from a paysite you must have traffic, or know people with lot's of traffic who are willing to sell it to you. Otherwise plan on a long slow painful process of building traffic. Selling to large paysites can work if you have something unique. I know some people who are getting nice bucks for a new series for a major sponser, but what they're offering is very unique. The sponser covers their costs and they get anything they shoot that the sponser doesn't take. Another option is to produce large quantities of content. I know of another sponser that wants a minimum of 10K photos. But this is tought to do (they wanted 10K/month). That's about 500 photos/work day which is a lot. Even so, it's a "who you know" business. You got to have the contacts to make this happen.

Another option is video which is high demand or live streaming which is in very high demand. If I were doing it all over again and had money to burn, I'd say screw the photos and focus on the live feeds. That's where the need is right now.

2. COMMON PRICES CHARGED?
Non-exclusive from .10/photos to 1.00+ per photo. Your average amateur is at the low end, while mag quality using name talent is at the high end.

3. THE COST OF GIRLS?
It's going to vary, depending on the girl, your location and your competition. I've seen girls who do it for nothing and I've seen them want $250/hour. $50 to $100/hour gets you a lot of girls though.

It's registered on the search engines and its advertised in all my YAHOO groups, etc. The bottom of the page also has a link to GOOGLE which by now is the THE thing to do if you want addiitonal traffic. I probably will put that page up on mirror sites as well. The page is in its onwn directory, called index.html [as an aside, directory/ gets more hits than .htm(l)] As to exclusivity, a big NO! Exclusivity in effect is creating something and then having it become someone else's property, and who is to say if then the people who got exclusive rights to your content later market it as non exclusive. Fuggeddaboudit! Non exclsuive all the way. I got an offer for quite a bit of money to write "custom" [read 'exclusive'] stories. I said, thanx but no thanx. Eventually I will come up with some gimmicks to draw more people ther by surveys, etc. My own opinion is content will make me more money than paysites, which I may eventually abandon.

3. THE COST OF GIRLS?
I do transgender and gay, amateurs only. I don't do per hour at all. I can only pay for what will sell - so I do percentage of sales. IN the alternate lifestyle communities, models are pretty accomodating if you treat them fairly and are honest in your dealings with them. I never take advantage. I am up front as to monies. But I also never make promises. Models are told, in truth, this is an opportunity for BOTH of us to make money. But like the Stock Market its a gamble, NOT a guarantee. Anyway that's MY approach. But after all, I am new at this.

Its even worse when new porn sites not only use SPAM to try to get
customers but they JOEJOB someone else. For the last 18 days I've been
defending on of my customers colocated non-porn servers from a JOEJOBing of
large proportions. They picked 7 random non-existent email addresses with
his domain extension and forced the reply-to address on all their SPAM runs
to those addresses. Result? Thousands, 10's of thousands of bounce
messages, bitching, complaining all being directed at my customer from
hundreds of different servers and ISP's.

I let the system for the first 4 days simply bounce them as no-such user
but it turns out that started overloading the server because it takes 3-5
CPU cycles to bounce an email and only 1-3 to take it and save it to a
file. I've generated nearly a gigabyte of save file soaking it up. I've
complained to every Tier 1 provider involved and got no resolution. In
fact QWEST admitted they don't shut down SPAMmers unless the email is sent
through their servers. If it is sent from a independent server on an IP
leased from them they do NOTHING.

But at least I found out they don't care if I counterattack said
independent server....

Although YAHOO can be a major pain in the ass, especially as far as the porn industry goes, one service that it does continue to provide [so far, at least] are the egroups or clubs. When I first started designing my first successful transgender site, I created 3 YAHOO TG groups. Within 6 months I had a membership of over 9500. These folks were my base networking people. Using the groups as a heavy resource, I was able, not only to draw traffic to my site, but to do a lot of networking such as getting content and material for my sites and also to become well known in the TG Online Community. I am now trying to do the same in the Gay ONline Community. It's a little more difficult. Somehow the TG Community appears to be more open to this sort of thing than other communities. If you pick your niches intelligently and use your YAHOO groups to good advantage, always PRACTICING GENEROSITY, they can be a very good source of whatever!

Err.. 2000? Shesh.... I was using pop-unders to trick HITBOX, PORNTRACK,
SEXHOND, etc. back in May of 1998. Thats how I was able to get all sites I
was managing such great ratings on their lists. I was operating about 40
sites that. User comes into the site and it doesn't matter where and the
monitor window auto pops under and stays for 45 seconds long enough to post
to all the appropriate hit tracking groups and then puts itself away.
Perhaps I need to file with the patent office for pre-existing operations.

PAYPAL HORROR STORY from John

This is not hearsay, this happened to me - anyone with a paypal account will want to close it after this.....Paypal.com is a service that allows you to email money to anyone else who also has a paypal account - lots of people use it for ebay auctions, etc. They say their service is secure, but I have 900 reasons to doubt that - cuz I just got ripped off for $900!!

Here's how it happened: I have not used that account for any reason in almost a year - on Tuesday, when I got home from work, I had two emails from paypal customer service. The first one said that I had added an email address to my account - I did not! The second said that I had changed my primary email address - again, I did not! I went to paypal.com and attempted to log in to my account - no can do, it didn't recognize my email address! I immediately went to fleet.com and looked at my account balances - sure enough, there's a pending debit of $900 to paypal.com. Here's the kicker - it was not a credit card I had attached to paypal, it was my debit card, so I have no protection from fraudulent use!!!

I couldn't log into that account, I couldn't remember if I had any other cards attached to it, and paypal does not publish a phone number anywhere - they do have an 877 number, but it's unlisted, how do you like that?? My only recourse was to cancel all my credit and debit cards and have them re-issued. As for the $900, I can begin disputing that as soon as the money physically leaves my checking account, not before - that process begins on Saturday. I did a search at lycos for paypal complaints, and I found a slew of them, including quite a few people who were hacked in exactly the same manner as I was. I finally spoke to Artie at paypal (they don't give out last names, isn't that sweet?), after I found their secret 877 number - 877-672-9725 - he gave me the run-around, it will be 24-96 hours before an investigator can look at this, someone will get back to you, yada yada yada.....

The really sad part is that this could easily be avoided if paypal coded their systems correctly. When someone wants to change their account settings, the password alone should not be enough security - a confirmation number should be sent to the primary email address, then the account holder would have to enter that number on a form in order to continue to the update page. In that manner, the hacker would have to be able to hack my paypal password and hijack my pop3 email account, considerably more difficult to do both of those things at the same time. I asked Artie why they don't do this - he said that they do, but it's an optional setting, and I had it turned off!! I don't remember seeing anything like that when I signed up - and besides, why should basic security be optional???

I want this to be the world's largest email virus - I'm sending this message to everyone in my address book, and I think everyone should do the same. Tell all your friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc...

QUICK PLUG FOR CRAIG THE PROGRAMMER
The programmer I have used for the last 2 years is "Craig The Programmer". He is a blank ninja level MySQL and PHP master. =) Craig has built me several sites including a completely trick, stealth Usenet spammer I called "SPEW". Along with this he created a module for it called "Jungle" which spammed Usenet using spidering results from Amazon. It was fun and sweet. Craig is also very good at installation and security of all popular softare packages for Linux boxes like apache, modperl, php, mysql, sendmail and more. the latest project he and I are working on is TAUNT.COM - which is going to kill us or make us rich =) It is a gameserver spidering system with stats and ranking search engine database. Craig is actually testing this new mod for MySQL called InnoDB. I think most MySQL servers get a lot of reads and very few writes. Since we spider, we have the exact oppostite...zillions of writes a dfew reads. Do you know how you can right click on a file.... and choose which program to open it with....well... for some reason my one program is gone from that list. Do you know of a manual way to re add it? or do I need to install the program over?

Update:
gfoot4 was able to fix it by unistalling a new patch for dream weaver and then re-installing the old version. Is there any other method?
