Let me start off with the nuts and bolts today and then into the banter. Let me see here. Holger just send in a real nice script to convert text to html templates with a few other nice features. How about stopping bandwidth theft with PHP from Charles. Steve experiments with Yahoo groups. How to do po-ups in movies from pk. Sean writes in with how to do those html signatures in Outlook that 6foot4 was asking about a few weeks ago...neat. A reply-to-all from Anon and navy site hyjacked from Stel. All this and maybe a little more below.

Check out the bottom section of the newsletter for a site to win a damn Spiderman Viper! Did I ever tell you my idea for a site on that? OK, I shouldn't give away this idea but I can't resist. Why not create a site that does nothing but track CAR GIVEAWAYS. I did a search when I came up with the idea a year or two ago. There has to be at least 50 car give lotteries at any given time. Then there is also 50-100 ticket fund raiser car give lotteries at the same time for $10 - $50 a ticket. People love cars...you could get write spiders to track the sites OR you could give people rewards for emailing them in. What's the catch? The catch is...how do you convert this to money?

1. advertising
this is a gamble since I am not sure what ads you are going to sell...perhaps car dealers trying to make sales

2. info grabbing
this is sort of sneaky, but you could also create a page that asks everything that all the lotteries ask....so then people fill in the info on one page on your site...your spiders then enter all their data into the tickets on the other sites for them. You, by helping them, now have all their data to resell.

3. Paysite membership model
Here is the way I think it would work best
- show EVERY damn give away and auction on your site and link to the site that has the cars. Then people can click and enter their data by hand. BUT there might be 300 car giveaways at any time AND there might be 1000 in a year. CHARGE people $5 or $9 a month or $25 a year to do this all for them and to track the lotteries and who wins. You could have forums and BS as well. With this model you do not need to sell the info. You offer the service of keeping them entered into all car giveaways and make it fun for them to talk about it with friends.

A STORY ON THE SECRET RARE CONTENT
I received a fun email this from Kevin this week (webmaster@grannytgp.com). He's about to embark into the world of content. I wish him much success with this interesting venture. His email is one that comes up on a regular basis. The letter usually goes something like this:

"Andy, I have this stumbled onto this rare content that no one has seen. I was in Egypt on an archaeological expedition. We began to dig and I fell into a mummy's chamber. Inside the chamber was the RARE GOLDEN CONTENT. I am talking about pictures of nude women, that NO ONE has ever seen before. I am talking about skinny girls, mature girls, teen girls, and red haired girls! This CONTENT IS GOLD!!!!"

and I can hear the cash register in their heads spinning. $$$$$. I have met photographers, porn stars, and strip club owners, and many of them do have access to rare, unseen content. "Content" is a one piece of the porn puzzle, but there are other pieces that are just as and perhaps even more important. You can put an ad in the paper today, and have girls knocking on your door tomorrow to be paid so you can take nude pictures of them AND these are RARE and never been seen before.

Now, if you fell into that same cave of gold and discovered the "Bottomless well of 1,000,000 unique hits", Legendary Lars and I are going to be knocking on your door tomorrow, with lips salivating. If you discover the "lost ARC of 40,000 unique hits a day", well now you have found the HOLY GRAIL. Content is one part of the adult business, but I find that sometimes it is overvalued.

Here is an analogy. What if I fell into the egyptian tomb and found a rare "cola machine" and I now had the ability to make excellent "cola". That is one piece of the soft drink puzzle. There still exists some other pieces such as branding, advertising, product niche, marketing and more.

Kevin had some good questions for me and I thought I would ask readers for their thoughts on subject of content marketing

I dispute the title above. It was not hijacked. The Navy failed to pay
for it. Then 90 days after that it went back into the general pool. If
you are incompetent enough to lose your domain name that way and someone
else gets it thats life. I just went through something similar where one
my customers just lost their domain name after 3 years because they let it
go 90 days past due and it went back to the general pool. I almost got it
baack for them but a glitch in the dotster.com system failed to notify me
of problem during registration and the 36 hours later someone else got it
who doesn't want to part with it excellent for big $$$.

Trying to force the current legal owner who got it fair and square out of
it is just plain mean. I'm gonna keep my eye on that domain in case the
ISP releases it back into the pool and pick it up myself.

SPAM FILTERING ON SERVERS from manu

I'm writing because you had a mention in your last newsletter about anti
spam programs. We own a lot of domains, plus some real sites, so we get
1000's of spam messages a day. It really causes mayhem when we're on the
road because we need to check our mail from dial up. Having 8000 pieces of
spam sitting on your server along with 1000 messages you need to read is a
big pain in the ass. I've used Windows scripts that log in from your home
machine, but they don't run while we're on the road and they bog down our
machines sometimes too.

So far we haven't been able to figure out a 100% way to kill the spam
without killing the good mail. I checked out this service called
MailShell.com, and I thought they might be a good solution. You pay them
and they log into your POP3 account and scan the mail every few minutes and
move the spam to a folder on their server. It's kinda like the Windows
script you can download, but it's a service rather than a script. Using
them, the mail is not deleted, so you can look at it if you need to, but it
keeps your main mailbox clean. Great idea. However, because we do adult
stuff, they kill most of our real mail along with the spam They assume that
porn=spam, even if it's not. It kinda sucks for porn webmasters that all
porn is assumed to be unwanted by some filter programs and services.
Anyways, their service wasn't customizable enough for us (custom filters
won't override their default filters) so I gave up on them.

Is there a good Linux compatible server side script that you know of that's
easy to set up for killing spam in a POP3 mailbox, based on a set of custom
rules, that can be prioritized? I'd also like to be able to see what's been
killed for a certain number of days, so I can tell if the script is eating
our important mail. I have no idea if something like this exists. I've
looked around, but some of the scripts seem really raw and I'm not sure
which ones work. Any suggestions from you or your people?

In Sexswap 247, 6foot4 wanted to add a clickable link in an Outlook sig. This is how you do it...

From the Outlook menu select Tools/Options then choose the Mail Format Tab and on that screen you'll see Signature.

Click the Signatures button

You'll see a box with you existing signature(s) listed, click on it to highlight and click the 'edit' button.

On the next screen you will be able to edit the Signature, and you should see a button that says Advanced Edit. Click this.

What happens now (at least on my machine) is that FrontPage launches. Your signature should be now loaded into front page.

At the bottom of the screen are icons to toggle on/off HTML view, so you can see the signature as HTML code.

Once there its a simple case to add any clickable text links or other HTML you need.

Don't forget some people won't see the HTML stuff if they are not using a HTML capable email client so it might be worth putting a plain text version of any URL's

here's the idea I had about spamming perfectly legally. With an AOL account you get 7 screennames. No one is supposed to know you're online til you start sending emails. Yet every freakin' day we get hundreds of spam emails that we normally delete or report to AOL. Some of these spam emails are CC'd or BCC'd to umpteen people who's screennames the spammers phish from the AOL database. One day by mistake when I got one I hit 'reply to all' with a nasty message to the spammer yet mistakenly had my website URL in the email. Lo and Behold it went out to everyone on the list but I didn't get hit with a spam charge cause it was an auto-response thing. Here's the dilly-yo: Your emails can be answered with a 'reply to all' auto responder with a message that says: " Thanks for the email, I'll respond shortly" and your URL and ad message on it. Even a pic! No one can nail you for spamming cause it's an autoresponder (not really but you say it is). If they didn't want the email they shouldn't have
So far it's worked like a charm BUT you must use a screenname that's not one that you'ld normally use or you get lotsa flame mail where everyone else hits 'reply to all' and next thing you know the 50,000 people who just got your 'reply' message start sending each other flames and your URL is resubmitted umpteen times.

Here's the result of a little experiment I did the past 24 hours. I
started a Yahoo group and promoted it a bit and already have 239
members. But...the wild thing is you get to collect emails. Now, I
know most of these emails are used by surfers just to sign-up for
groups, etc...still, it is interesting stuff. It seems about a third
allow for individual mailings. Also, it can be pretty targeted
traffic. The largest I found is around 14,000 members.
Any thoughts are welcome ;-)

I think you will have a very very hard time finding what you are after. I have written about this a few times and in my opinion, it does not exist. I will try and explain better.

Because of the laws of supply and demand, traffic is bid up to the highest point. If I am a porn site...I will buy infinity traffic as long as I am making a penny or even fraction of a penny on it. This is an economic fact. Therefore, the sites that make the most on traffic, will bid traffic to a higher level than I can pay due to economies of scale. There will always exist sites with unusual cost strutures due to their size or owning their own bandwidth etc...and so, if I can pay up to 5 cents, that site can pay up to 6 cents. Therefore they will buy ALL traffic at six cents since they can make money at it. This does not even take into account that if two of these sites exist, one could temporarily bid 7 cents to try and put the other out of business, making things even moer competitive.

I am exaggerating once again to make a point, it has always been my opinion, that majority of traffic buyers will not be able to find traffic at a low enough rate to make money on. I'll sell you 100,000 hits a day....but I will only sell it for more than I can make on it....so some how, you have to have some super power, or rare niche trick where you are able to make 1 cent more than me. Unless you have a rare niche or business edge to give you a superior cost structure, it is very difficult to buy traffic since you cannot secure it for a low enough price to make money. You can make money without a site by creating traffic with your own hard work and ideas.

One way I think it is safer to buy traffic is through goto and google. At least you are know you are not getting screwed and can then bid and test, bid and test and try to find words at a price that you can make money on. I did it for a while and made a little coin, but it got hard and I gave up. Exact same problem..words get bid up to a point that the average bear cannot profit. It is not impossible to buy traffic, but I personally consider it a very difficult task.

Dollars is one of the best programs for converting my traffic. I love the way
they design their front-ends. They show tons of pics of the actual girls. They
have 4-5 pages deep of the girls (all asking for the sale). I love this style

2. PAY PER SIGN-UP
As you know, I love being paid PER SIGN UP. I like to "make the sale" and get
