This is the almost weekly
SexSwap News-Tips-Trix and it goes to all members of SexSwap and SexSwap2
and AsianSwap and GaySexSwap and SexSwap2000 Banner Exchanges. It contains
information on SexSwap, Porn, Tips'n'Trix, and software reviews for
the adult webmaster. I perform all literary stunts without the use of
nets, safety-cables, spell checkers, or grammar fixers, and this tends
to leave the reader in a state of bewilderment...you will get used to
it.

What a treat I have for the
statistician testers this week. Last week, after my article on the banner
tests, "The Professor" wrote in with some awesome scientific
data on the reliabilty of small sample banner testing. He also included
a greal little perl script to prove these results on your own. The crux
of the argument is that 3000 impressions is far too small of a sample
size to get meaningful data from testing and might lead to the wrong
conclusions!. I guess this goes back to school math bell shaped curve
and probability theory. The key is to get a large enough sample size
to be pretty sure with an X confidence level that the results are correct.

TARGETTED WEBMASTER TRAFFIC
from Ben
Ben writes
If your need a comment backing up your pricing then here it is.
If Andy was selling ad space for exposure to adult surfers, sure the
price
is too high..... You have to know the value of webmaster traffic tho.
It is
much harder to get and much, much more expensive. Justifiably so. Andy's
prices are cheap for the excellent exposure, I know as soon as I get
the
next verion of LinkUp out I'll be buying a couple of slots. Anyone who
thinks it is expensive simply isn't in the business of buying webmaster
traffic or they'd already know it's well within the normal price range.
Thing is it's all targeted
traffic.... Can't compare buying adverts on
targeted pages based on the average visitors value with telling 40001
warez
sites with a million visitors that will never buy "You can get
$5 per 1000
impressions". If cheaters and low quality sites/traffic didn't
exist then
CPM would probably be fine. If your buying traffic from one specific
page,
that you understand the value of, and deal direct with the owner....
How can
you go wrong?
It's not the system that
makes CPM bad, it's how the moronic dot com's used
it that was stupid. They thought they could brand the whole internet
$5 at a
time, they thought it doesn't matter how many dollars you give a cheater
as
long as his auto-refresh script keeps doing it's thing our hit counter
will
spin and the boss will be happy. They counted script, auto-refresh,
iframe,
img src etc hits as "Someone has seen our branding!!".....
That's just
moronic.
hehe Just thought of another
way to put it....
For $5 you can buy 1000 targeted hits.
For $5 you can buy 500 auto-refrehes, 300 hit bots, 100 iframes, 50
img src,
and 50 real semi-targeted surfers.
The first one is buying off
one page from a site that has your target
traffic that you've dealt with personally to secure the deal.
The second one is a "dot com" deciding to spend another $20
million on junk
from warez sites.

PRO-LEVEL SCIENTIFIC BANNER TESTING WITH SCRIPT from The Professor
The Professor writes
"How confident are you that your banner test is accurate"
or
"When to use your gut instinct instead of banner test results".
As someone who loves to do
banner test, I often see results
where one banner performs a bit better than another. But
how do you really know that if we run the test over the
results would be different? Wrote some code to give confidence
factors for a banner test (perl code below).
Let's look at a case where
one banner gets .22% clickrate
and another gets .21% click rate when you do a test of 3000
impressions each. We find that if you would run the test
again, you have a 44.4% chance that the "poorer" performing
banner would actually beat the "better" banner! This might
be a good time to: 1. run a test with many more impressions
or 2. go with your gut as there really isn't enough evidence
that the .22% banner is better.
Inputs using a single test
of 3000 impressions per banner:
Banner1 tested click rate: 0.0022
Banner2 tested click rate: 0.0021
After 1000 tests of 3000
banner impressions each test:
Banner 1 won 482 times (55.6 percent)
Banner 2 won 385 times (44.4 percent)
Now looking at your results,
we see that only 10% of the time
if you run your test, the worse banner would win making you
pretty darn confident to swap your banners!
Inputs using a single test
of 3000 impressions per banner:
Banner1 tested click rate: 0.0037
Banner2 tested click rate: 0.0021
After 1000 tests of 3000
banner impressions each test:
Banner 1 won 859 times (89.9 percent)
Banner 2 won 96 times (10.1 percent)
Code below:
#!/usr/bin/perl
# Code to determine the confidence
that one banner is
# better than another given data from a single test.
# Written by: adultfriendfinder.com/go/pa
# Up to 75c/click, up to $82/per paid signup!
# The following are from
your single test, edit them to
# check your test results!
$nimps=3000; # number of
impressions you ran both banners during test
$clickrate1=.0037; # click rate of banner 1 (clicks/impressions)
$clickrate2=.0021; # click rate of banner 2
srand();
$nloops=10000; # how many test to try
for my $loop (1..$nloops) {
my ($click1,$click2);
for my $imp (1..$nimps) {
if (rand()<$clickrate1) { $click1++; }
if (rand()<$clickrate2) { $click2++; }
}
if ($click1>$click2) {
$banner1better++;
} elsif ($click2>$click1) {
$banner2better++;
}
}
print "Inputs using
a single test of $nimps impressions per banner:\n";
print " Banner1 tested click rate: $clickrate1\n";
print " Banner2 tested click rate: $clickrate2\n\n";
print "After $nloops
tests of $nimps banner impressions each test:\n";
printf " Banner 1 won $banner1better times (%.1f percent)\n",
100*$banner1better/($banner1better+$banner2better);
printf " Banner 2 won $banner2better times (%.1f percent)\n",
100*$banner2better/($banner1better+$banner2better);

PRO-LEVEL BANNER CLICK RATE
TESTING PART 2 from The Professor
Guru-Of-Gif writes
I have often felt that 3000 is a weak test but I had not given thought
to what a more appropriate number would be to get a reasonable level
of confidence. Do you think a single ftest of say 10,000 might suffice?
I have even seen it in the results...I will test the new banner against
the default and it will win hands down in the test and then you throw
it on the system and the next day, overall click rates are in the toilet
since the test sample size was just to small.
The Professor writes
I've found that most banner tests have a much bigger spread
than text copy test (like on a web page). This means that
typically, banner tests need fewer impressions to be confident.
For text change a .22% vs .21% is more common so looking at:
After 1000 tests of 3000
impressions each test:
Text 1 won 482 times (55.6 percent)
Text 2 won 385 times (44.4 percent)
After 1000 tests of 10000
impressions each test:
Text 1 won 537 times (57.2 percent)
Text 2 won 402 times (42.8 percent)
After 1000 tests of 50000
impressions each test:
Text 1 won 602 times (62.0 percent)
Text 2 won 369 times (38.0 percent)
After 1000 tests of 200000
impressions each test:
Text 1 won 738 times (74.4 percent)
Text 2 won 254 times (25.6 percent)
You really need to crank
up the impressions to know for
certain the winner of a "close" race.
(BTW, the program doesn't
give a tie to either side)
the number of tests is just
the programs way of estimating
how many will go to banner 1 or 2 - it's independent on the
3 inputs. Users really should not lower this number below
500 (in fact, just don't change it).

RE: LINDA LOVELACE from Karen
aka Grandma Scrotum
This is a bit late, I should have written it a few
weeks ago. But the issue has been bugging me and I
just have to get it out of my head.
After Linda Lovelace died
a few weeks ago, Jspr wrote
in on his theories about how Linda Lovelace had simply
made up her stories of abuse to make money. He bases
this theory on the fact that Linda appears to
experience true pleasure in Deep Throat.
I just want to say that I
find it perfectly believable
that Linda was forced to perform in that film and all
the others by an abusive husband. This was the 70s,
and she most likely did not have anywhere else to go.
The porn industry then was quite different to what it
is now, and I dont doubt that some women were coerced
or forced into appearing in films. As for her
enjoyment well, its not that hard to fake an
orgasm actress or not. Look at the statistics and
youll find plenty of everyday women are conjuring up
Oscar type performances in bed, just to keep their men
happy.
The other thing I wanted
to point out is that I dont
find it necessary to excuse the abuses of the past in
order to defend the porn of today. We should be saying
Yes, that happened, and it was terrible, but were
doing our utmost to make sure that todays porn is
ethically produced. As a woman who creates and enjoys
porn, I still dont like the idea that other women
could be abused or forced to pose in photos. Not all
feminists are crazy and out to destroy porn.
Just had to get on my soapbox.

Craig the Programmer wrote about how paysitepowertools.com says basic
authentication is loved by
brute force hackers and CGI authentication is hated by hackers. Craig
disagress and goes on to say
that CGI authenication is not more secure and can be defeated easily.
Craig is correct, but I believe
that most brute force hackers do not have the programming skills
to write scripts themselves. These "script kiddies" just run
scripts that they find on hacker websites, and most
of those scripts work against basic authentication. But if everyone
started using CGI login
then all the scripts would be written to brute forcw attack that.

POP UPS IN MOVIES by Phil and Craig
Phil asks
I recently stumbled across a few porn mpegs on Kazaa that somehow force
a popup window to open to a certain url everytime they are played in
Windows Media Player. Have you heard anything about this? I did a lot
of searching on the net and couldn't find a word about this anywhere,
but as it concerns the Adult internet industry I thought you might know.
Craig the programmer responds
it was the media player form movies ... .asf I believe is the extension.
You could add triggers to the videos to allow different things to happen
at any time in the video....one of which was open up a url. The software
to do this is located at microsoft's media player home site.

<capescience.capeclear.com/google/index.shtml>
Google recently published
its Web Services interface at
www.google.com/apis (tech explanation ). We've built an
email interface to Google. Actually, the folks in Marketing built
it, which says a lot about the simplicity of Web services.
Just email google@capeclear.com
and put the text of your query in
the "Subject" line. You'll receive your search results via
email.
It's not going to take the
world by storm, but maybe it'll kick
start some thought processes on the power of Web Services. It
might be useful for PDAs, mobile phones, offline laptop users,
and generally people who have infrequent, low quality access to
the Internet. Some people may find it easier to use email rather
than launch a browser, or maybe you could just use it to remind
yourself to do something on the Internet.
