Its been a quaite week with most folks sending the kids off to school. I noticed right away that my half-life server is now packed as young Jihnny returns to the comfort of his college DSL line. This is usually a good sign for porn as well as summer slowdown is usually over and sales slowly grow until the peak of January. Mainstream also grows as we head into the holiday seasons of halloween (man, do you hate halloween as much as me?)...if there is one holiday I hate...that is it...pure torture. Luckily we only get 5-10 kids total cause we are hermits and live in a cave so our pad is tricky to find and dar :) ...in the blick of an eye it becomes Thanksgiving and then Christmas and the weather is cold and everyone is sitting around their new computers and playing online...Yeehaw! This week can be called the SexSwap review of all things Satellite. I have learnt more in the past two weeks on the issue than in the last 5 years. I have a little more news on grow your won T1s and Wes may test it out. If he is successful, I will be test 2. SHould be good fun. In the last section this week I babble about the world of gross sites. These have been around almost as long as porn. I generally am scared to go to them but there is one that I have found amusing and disturbing at the same time and I tell you about it. Guess what? I drive the cobra around the block 4 times yesterday! Woohoo! It is about 90% done mechanically. Just repairs left. Next week is door bodywork. The two weeks to primer and paint for an October total completion!

Frig. I can't take this chinese water torture. It has been two years of the market kicking us in the gut and it looks like the kicking will continue indefinitely. No fun son. I would love some stability...not even growth...just stability for a few months. Well, I guess it is a good lesson to learn when you are young but a painfull lesson indeed. I am a little worried that the optimistic market gurus are believing that worker productivity, due to comptures, will save the day. I just don't see this happening since we did not all turn on the computer switch at the exact same time, so this is already built into most businesses and grows slowly. I do think there is no stopping the snowball running down a hill called "internet". There is going to come a point in time, when the news is so great "high net margins", that all newspapers will have to write about businesses succeeding on the net. I am hoping that amazon pulls off profitiability this year. I have not heard much so I don't know how easy this will be for them. I see they have now entered into computer sales which is a tricky business.

I like it more and more every day. It depends what you need. if you think you are just going to take a few pics and want to stick to a budget, then get the floppy disk mavica's that are lower in the line and work great. If you want to do Mpegs and takes hundreds of pics, then I highly recommend it.

Here are a couple things that still irk me a little about it.

1. formatting and initializing
since it is a CD-R and not a floppy, to take pics, you must initialize the disk. To view the pics you must finalize. To take pics again you must initialize. So you have to do this extra step all the time compared to a floppy. The one other odd thing about this step is that 13mb disappears into the bermuda triangle each time you do it

2. no html link page
with the old floppy mavica's, you get a small html page with links to every pic you took on that floppy. With the CD-R mavicas, you don't get this fun page, so when you upload to the web, you don't have as easy access to find the pics. I never loaded the after market software...perhaps it does this but it wouls still be an extra step.

The things I love about it are

1. Endless pictures
You can take pictures until you are blue in the face. If you are on the weaker settings, you can take like 1500 pics or more. This is terrific and you can find the CDs for around $1 - $1.50 if you look around

2. Mpegs
It is handy and fun to make mpegs on it. You can make them with the floppy ones but you sure run out of space fast on a floppy.

3. Battery
The mavica's come with rechargeable batteries and the CD-R comes with a very good one that lasts and lasts.

design these things, its the ultimate challeng! DirecTV sends out ECM's
(Electronic COunter Measures) to kill hacked cards.. The people don't look
at it like, shit! my card went down! They instead jump at the challeng to
figure out how to get around DirecTV's ECM;s and then post it all over the
internet for free! No matter what DirecTV does or has done, it only makes
it more exciting for satellite hackers! Image owning a business such as
this? you try to twert the hackers and instead you get them all wet and
excited because you presented them with a new challeng! haha Its very funny
to think about it..

DirecTV sent our a blast to all hacked cards last January 25th.. Killed
just about ALL hacked cards there were.. it took a month for the hackers to
figure a way around it.. But in the mean time, DirecTV sold 5,000,000 brand
new satellite dish systems in that month, they got 119,000 new subscribers..
They sent out another ECM to the new HU cards.. again, millions of systems
were sold and very few new subscribers.. This backfired huge against
DirecTV, they have a deal with Radio Shack, WalMart and KMart that if they
sell a new system, they pay thm $250.00 for each system sold. So each store
decided to lower the price of the systems because of the kickbacks from
DirecTV. Systems were selling for $50! Now, DirecTV had to honor their
contracts with each retailer.. The cost them so much cash that they are now
looking to sell DirecTV to Huges.. RadioShack has threatened to sue them if
they don't caugh up the cash, WalMart is also looking for their money, they
figure its not their fault that hackers are bying them up.

I could go on and on and on.. Its a very interesting hobby. But if your
looking to have a little fun and build something, you can;t go wrong with
Dennis. I'd bet if you told him you would report the build process
(good/bad, easy/hard) in your newsletter, he'd ship you one for free.

I was trolling wround searching for some porn this weekend when I hit one of those "gross sites" by accident on some funny word search. I have no idea what I was searching, but I ended up on one of these sick sites and I was wondering if this has ever happened to you. It is one of those interesting phenominas...I tell myself...leave this site NOW! It is like driving by an accident...you cannot stop from looking and this site had like the 10 grosses pictures ever. And I will have to say "yicky" :) I said to myself "do not open that thumbnail" ...click "oh my god that is sick". You then are disturbed in the head for the next week. Has this ever happened to you? I then have to tell my wife of these pics to try and relieve the anxiety in my head. These sites are full of oddities of nature, death, and general nastiness. This one site was so sick, I think I will hold back for telling you the details and I do not want to try and re find it. I think there are lots of these sites (sort of like the movie Faces of Death). I have never watched that movie, nor do I intend to. Now there are some sick sites that I don't mind and I will tell you about one of my favorite sick sites in a minute.

To me, there are two types of sick sites. Those that are really sick and show death, and sex with dead bodies, and wierd diseases (these I cannot take). And then there are sites for piercing and tattoos etc...these are people doing things to themself. I don't mind these sick sites. To sum up, really sick is man's inhumanity to man, and fun sick is man's inhumanity to himself. Does this make any sense? You see, these sites are so disturbing that you have to babble like an idiot about them to try and make sense of them and clear your conscious :) OK...are you ready...you might want to wait til evening when you are drinking run and cokes for this one...it is not really Starbucks morning site. Have someone on hand to tell how grossed out you are. :) Here is a site that I find rather amusing and shocking. I have been following it for a year or so. The first time I saw it was was like screaming and pulling my hair out and sitting in disbelieve. It was almost unblievable to me but then I found out that this is a sub-culture and I think it is almost a sort of primative tribe ritual :) This site is about a man called "The Toe Cutter". Can you see where this is going? The title says it all. So this young lad...he decided that for an adventure, he would cut off one of his toes. This is called "voluntary amputation". Yep...some people like extreme skiing, some like marathon running, and some folks like subtracting digits off their body. I kid you not. Is this gross? I sure as hell think so...yet interesting for a medical and mental standpoint. I am not sure how much you want to see. Again, I find this to be less gross as it is a choice by the person. Again, my favorite king of all body amputations is "Mr Toe Cutter". He is a legend and perhaps the Michael Jordan of body subtraction. I am trying to locate his report on how he did it. It was quite detailed. He actually used like a Home Depot wood chisel and I guess you can easily bleed to death. I talked to Wes the ISP and I think he is going to go ahead and try the home T1 as an experiment. He pulls a 384k line to his house and is also interested in this technology. He said he had known about the technology for 2-3 years but had really never thought of trying it at home. If and when the experiments occur, I will try and get Wes's input on the technical aspects and if it is fun, easy, hard, fast etc. If it works I certainly wouldn't mind trying it here since it essentially cuts the price of a dedicated line in half.

I was reading one of the other chat boards today and stumbled onto a colleagues tirade on TGPs. I did not realize but there are many people that hate TGPs. I have to say that I "DO NOT". Basically, what these people are saying is "if porn is free, no one will buy it"...and "TGPs are making me not make any money". My comments on these comments is "BULLSHIT". I can watch movies free on HBO, yet I go to the theater once a week and pay $20. Free has always been around in almost every business. Free is also always been lower quality. Sure there are cheap bastards that want free..they would of never joined a site to begin with. There are also people willing to pay for quality. There are also people that don't want to bother with the hastle and sneaky tricks of TGPs. There are also people that want simplicity. Why aren't these TGP crybabies saying "shut down usenet....it is killing my paysite"...HELL...PORN STARTED OUT OF USENET. I would argue that it has a right to be here over paysites as it was first. Anyways, I think there is room for TGPs. I think if you make a gret site, spend every waking hour looking for TRAFFIC TRAFFIC TRAFFIC, then you will do fine.

BIG BOXING THIS WEEKEND
Tito Felix Trinidad, I would argue that he is the best fighter in the world right now, takes on Bernard Hopkins. What is exciting about this is that Bernard is in Tito's head.

Hopkins had to be rescued from an angry mob seen when he threw the Puerto Rican flag to the ground...like that takes balls. He is clearly not as skilled boxer as Tito, but he has done time in the pen and is dirty as all hell. Remember the Philadelphia Fliers when they took the cup...they counldn't play that great of hockey, but man they could brawl...and that took the opponent out of his game. The same is true for Tito...he is already talking about changing his strategy. Should be a great fight. Tito should easily win but anything can happen and this makes it very interesting.
